Multinational John Powel S.A.
The company started its operations in 1952 with the purpose of supplying a shortage of insecticides on allied combat fronts during the years following World War II. With the corporate name John Powel S.A. and fully Danish corporate capital, the company aimed at the cultivation of pyrethrum flower and the extraction of natural pyrethrin (raw material used in the manufacture of insecticides).
PIPERONYL BUTOXIDE - Pirisa Piretro Industrial S.A.
The year 1955 was marked by the entry of a group of shareholders from Venezuela, which acquired 50% of the company, which was named Pirisa Piretro Industrial S.A. After a few years, the Venezuelan group bought 100% of the company shares and installed a plant for the manufacturing of piperonyl butoxide (PBO), an important synergist used in the manufacturing of insecticides and agricultural pesticides.
Brazilian Parent Company
In 1977, Brazilian entrepreneurs entered in the shareholding and in the same year began to control the capital of the company, which was named PIRISA Piretro Industrial Ltda., a corporate name used until today.
Internationalization and outsourcing
Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, Pirisa improved its piperonyl butoxide manufacturing techniques and production lines for outsourcing several types of products, such as spirals, mosquito repellent tabs, vaporizers and liquids device, among others, becoming an icon company in its industry. Also in the same period, began the imports and distribution of several products such as active contents, in addition technical products used in the formulation of insecticides and other cleaning products, in order to meet the demands of the local market.
Product line expansion
During the early 2000s, the company expanded its production capacity and included several new products in its production portfolio, so entering other segments such as insect control baits, liquid insecticide, fumigants, sanitary cleaning block, clothing cleaning tabs, stain remover and anti-mold, among others.
60 YEARS - New structure, new perspectives!
After celebrating 60 years of operations, in 2012, Pirisa began to build its new industrial facilities and completed the installation of a unique production line for the industrialization of a spiral from cellulosic fiber.
Manufacturing consolidation, product and market development
In this period there was a complete concentration of productive sites in a single location, where today a modern, large and organized production site is installed. Since this period, the industrialization and administration of the company are headquartered in this productive site on the banks of road RS115, in the city of Taquara, state of Rio Grande do Sul.
Consolidation of new business and customers
Increasingly oriented towards a modern industrialization and open to new segments in this period, several new customers and new products were incorporated to the company portfolio. A growth consolidation plan was beginning here for the next 10 years.

With the progress and consolidation of new customers and new products, we were challenged to strengthen our productive and research and development areas. Every national and international scenario has been put to the test and this was the time to strengthen the commercial, industrial and development areas of new products and services.
